Return

We join the circling
packs of jackals
Roving in minds
returning again
and again
to the carrion
of destructive thoughts,
Snarling in defence
grinning in mangy confidence
growling fangs of attack,
scavenging pride
in the face
of our own disaster
in defiance
of reality.

Starting Thoughts: Sometimes we are slowly, willingly trapped in a circle of destructive thoughts, small choices dwelt on that lead us to places we don't want to go - but do!

Spoken word poem on the destructive thinking we can have

Towards You

Galaxies of thoughts
vast beyond number
yet each one
precious, treasured
celebrated, measured
counted beyond
grains of sand
pattens on a beach
moving ceaselessly in wind
and white outlined waves.
Counted with a power
that sees
that knows
that believes in
that loves
each idea particle
that timelessly trickles
through the infinity hour glass
expanding my soul
enriching my spirit.

How precious are
God’s thoughts
Towards me
Towards you.

Starting Thoughts: Read Psalm 139 and you will see where this poem came from.

From Pslams the idea God

The Cost

Am I
born to doubt,
In the midst
of laughter,
celebration,
the positive...
a tendril taps my mind,
what is real?
A crack appears
snaking into my thoughts...

Look what they did
to me,
Look what they did
to my family,
Look what they did...
my heart, my feelings,
Look at my thoughts,
Look, spinning...
people... pain.

And yet,
Should I gain
all things,
have all knowledge,
all success
what do I have?
Ashes, glitter,
a hourglass
sand dripping time
to my death.

Is there really a choice?

And then
I take a risk,
They call it
a step of faith,
opening to
the love of God,
allowing Jesus
to be Lord,
capturing my heart,
And I know, experience Him
as my lover,
and I choose God,
King of glory over my life,
under God's authority,
Making Him Lord.

Does this cost my life?
Yes!
I give all
day by day,
In the valley
are the shadows
that I will walk,
Oh... I remember
the mountain tops
dancing with God
in incredible release, freedom,
the spirit colours
streaming, painting wonder.
But in reality valley
choosing you
my Saviour - Lord of my life,
is the full victory
of Christ.
My freedom
My love
My worship.

I am released,
God where do You
want me to step today?
Dance today?

Cost of Following Christ Poem

Deeper than Surface

Single letters
straggle through my heart
tugging odds and ends
forming thoughts
deeper than mind
Centered in my core.

The Question slides
surface floating

Am I?
Is God?
Who cares?

Am I random?
A blank?

Or formed for purpose?

I stand outside myself
Looking in
and beyond.

Fashion Prostitute

Kid laughter
Health and hopes
Young soul warmth
Memory smiles
in the eyes of a child.

This naivety
this innocence
now packaged by parents
dressing children
to kill it
as facades for
fashion sex,
stolen youth
sold to advertising,
Surface beauty
replacing parent duty,
Adult hopes
for beauty
pasted over
next generation trust,
Gluing sex
to their minds
selling off
their future paths.

Turning children into
Barbie prostitutes.

Starting Thoughts: When we dress children with our own or media driven version of fashion that sexualises them, are we turning innocence into a fashion prostitute?
