Matrix Moments

Media Moments: Question, reflect, connect

Standing in a Crowd

Wholeness came
through the hole in time
the pivoting point in time
collisions of past, present and future
and the King who became human,
began thirty years
journey on Earth.

God:
Passion sending purpose
Love leading to suffering
sending the light
revealing the blood cost
knowing the loneliness of pain
bringing life out of hell
singing life out of death.

Servant:
on a donkey
destiny hidden in simplicity
deliverance hidden in sacrifice,
surrender freeing salvation
to all people through
the King of miracles
the King of creation,
Palms laid, palms raised
A carpet of Praises
a crowd of worship
recognising the Saviour,
The eternal work of God
made flesh
made to ride
made for betrayal
made for the joy
made for the passion
made to die
to change
everything.

Self:
In the crowd
we stand
praise or playing,
Living lives of
possibilities, potential
pain, power, passion.

In the crowd
we can survive, hide,
Or decide.

Starting Thoughts:
Where are we in the crowd? Just hiding behind the majority, safety in numbers? Willing to stand out and be different? Are we prepared to make a decision for our King?

Slippery Hope

Hope slippery like
Soap on a rope
dissolving
disappearing down
the sucking plug hole,
I summon hope
but it slips away into
thin darkness,
I pull Hope up
Clinging to it
and it circles
the drain again
disappearing tendrils of me
self immolation drip by drip
despair that focuses on despair
Pain that focuses on pain.

From distress depths
deep in the sewer
I look up, seeing

a descending anchor of hope
fastened to heaven's mercy seat
Strong in God’s love
Secure in the cornerstone
Fastened to the rock

This anchor
emerges through the
bleak suffocation above
Shining like a star
A beacon I can choose
A saviour I can choose,

Now within me
Hope rising
Heart burning
on the inside
I discover
Hope cannot be a feeling
it is a person,
Anticipation in the blackness
Passion igniting
as I see this person, Jesus
the sure hope
Foundation of faith
Jesus the hope of Glory
Jesus glories’ hope in us.

I stand on
the anchor
secured, home
Darkness surrounds
but somehow I’m
in a different place
Same time
Different place -
Hope full.

Starting Thoughts: How solid is hope? If our future hope relies on money or jobs or even others will we always have a trustworthy hope? Is it possible that only God can be the sustainer of hope?

Spoken word poem on where we find hope.

Heartbeat Questions

From unnatural darkness
in the midst of loss and grief
from hell's silence came a heartbeat
light shattered dark into new belief

Born again in resurrection
Jesus simply stepped through the grave
and walked in surrounding gardens
the risen Saviour alive to save

In a whisper of salvation
Christ approached Mary near the tomb
Eyes not seeing her saviour
His words forever changed her gloom.

In the doubts of disciples meeting
In the fear and in the pain
Jesus appeared to show all
God’s kingdom would now reign.

From unnatural darkness
in a world of hurt and questions
Jesus now also asks us
can my power bring new directions?

Starting Thoughts: Simple moments in a garden against a backdrop of the powerful resurrection. Often we don't hear God's voice or recognise him in our life as we are focused on grief, pain, expectations of what God should be doing or can't do - and then He meets us!

Easter- Jesus risen appears to Mary, to the disciples

Between

Standing the darkness
Caught in between
Sacrifice and victory
Living now in the unseen.

Knowing grief - brokenness
Loss and confusion
Saturday’s waiting time
Awareness of being human.

Resurrection Sunday ahead
Joy and celebration
Right now stalled life
Hope seems just illusion.

Trapped in cloying dark
Time spinning to atrophy
Entangled dusk, joyful sunrise
My place of reality.

Jesus survived the same
Three Days of hell’s extremes
Then resurrection changed the game
Death to life, He redeems!

Starting Thoughts: The time between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday seems to ebb in flow a different reality that seems closer to human life. A mix of grief and wonderment, pain and celebration, waiting and ready to move on.

Eucharist

A meal that celebrates
Remembrance of Him,
Christ is the host
here with us
in all ways,
A meal that invites
all of who we are
to the table,
He took the cross
the chains of death
Became the forever
supreme sacrifice
once for all time,
The one perfect sacrifice
and we died with Him
and rose with Christ
in the power,
in glory
In reality
in who we are
making us complete for all time,
Co-seated with Him
Co-risen with Him
Sin is finished
death is finished
innocence restored

We are
connected to eternity
Alive in His covenant
Alive in the now
Alive in a powerful exchange.

As often as you eat
by his stripes
you are healed,
In the Power of Christ
Not ornate
Not complex
Yet universes of love,
Carved from wood
Like the hard cross
Is the most beautiful cup,
Spirit of the new wine
the substance of His Spirit
Death has become life
One Spirit to drink
Comfort and strength
Substance of the spiritual.

Thank you Lord
For the table of
the great exchange.

Starting Thoughts: The simple story that is has been re-enacted not just to remember but to celebrate the now, to be in the now, to know Jesus in the now. Now knowing the love and power behind that love, we share this with others.

Past Future Fears

Every evil spirit
calls out,
Pulling, teasing the
tenuous fear threads
into willing and unwilling
fertile minds,
multiplying the chaos
with distracting crowd noise
media, screens, speakers
hovering, thrusting, spiralling
connecting the bleak web
Deceit deforms the humane
collapsing hope
suffocating reason,
sometimes just silence
becomes the lies
and the future becomes
the past.

The sun turned dark
the moon dealt blood,
the earth heaved
in an earthquake storm,

and the lies
tried to be the silence
shutting the word of God
the Jesus truth,
closing life itself.

The sundial
spun three days
of fear chains
over a world
that didn't know it
was waiting.
Chokehold manacles
bruising hopes and dreams.

259,200 seconds
ticked towards eternity
Enough time for
despair, perceived reality,
to vulture circle
the disciples
questions spiralling,
rotting hopes
like the body.

And above, outside
and beyond time,
God spoke
in a power beyond
black holes,
Jesus rose
death died
tombstone rolled
time resumed
and Jesus
danced a million
unfolding stories
into human futures.

Starting Thoughts: Fears crowded in, the sun bled, earthquakes shattered and the Christ event that would change our futures occurred.

The past has become the release of your future at Easter - poetry spoken word

Significance

Undying love
an impossibility
a romance novel
a twisted pipe dream,
Can it ever be found?
Even the closest
to perfect human -
died!
Their love, their presence
their essence, personality,
all of them random - gone
just a grass blade
weakened temporary roots
dried to a brown wisp
in nor-wester winds,
flaking, crumbling, scattered,
forever lost.
Endless days
short moments
fleeting seconds.

And love spoke
A powerful presence
on Earth,
The walking, singing, challenging
Love was birthed
in frailty,
in the midst of death
and the universe
was inexorably changed,
This extreme love
healed, restored, invoked,
spoke truth, grace, life,
Transformed society
touched the untouchable
loved those who thought
they could never be treasured,
Said, "You are sons and daughters
of God",
And then evil killed
this ultimate love
tore it down
in the fears of people,
The fears of those in power
The fears of change,
death to a love promise
Just another lie,
death to the completely innocent.

Dying, dying, grave bound
death's chains
binding love in chaos...

And on the third day
Jesus rose
Love rose
Redemption, freedom rose
death could not hold Him
the undying love
Lived on, loved on,
The sacrificed love
searching love
forever eternal love,
the worst possibility
has become
the best truth,
death has become
eternal life
in the power
of God.
Alive in Christ
we stand
Life stories rewritten,
we are
the touch of significance,
We feel
God's heart lovers,
We have become
the royal priesthood.

Starting Thoughts: The temporary nature of life, are we just random? Can we have any significance and therefore hope in life? Can we discover in the worst possibility the best truth?

Can we find significance and hope in a random world? Poetry - Spoken Word

Innocence

We know what
we are like...
living the life we
don't want to live,
Shadows of evil thoughts
tired spaces
hopeless odds
gambling with our souls.

Slicing into history
and future
The Christmas Easter
peace child speaks,
"You are
Destined for innocence
Chosen to be
untainted, unstained,
justified
embraced
in my great love."

Yes,
seen through Christ's
righteousness,
Lamb of God
slain
disconnected
risen,
sin's curse broken
Death's power shattered,
The great exchange
innocence died
for the new
creation of the innocents,
freeing you
from your thoughts
from your old nature
from the overwhelming,
finding forever
completion in Jesus,
receiving the precious
free gift,
And you are
destined to live
in His life
in His established purity
in His endless love,
eternity depths for your innermost.

Transformed, total, real, spirit freedom.

Starting Thoughts: How does God see us? Pure, innocent, worth His Christmas, Easter precious gift. We can be transformed as we understand and are established in God's eternal love.

Stones Throw

As Jesus rode
towards the city,
Towards a future
really only known by Him,
the noise...
the celebration crowd
lining the streets
of Jerusalem
palm leaves waving, shouting
The embarrassed Pharisees' hate
threaded the tumult,
But the crowd
was lost to them
in this moment;
for a change,
in this time's fragment,
people had touched
the truth.

"Even the stones
will cry out."

Hide the cross
of Easter,
Smother it in chocolate
and hopping bunnies,
drown out thought,
hide it in holiday events,
Laugh to make it irrelevant.

And in alternate reality
the crowd transformed
"Stone Him
Crucify, crucify
kill Him on that cross"
erected on stone,
Nailed with our sins
Beaten with
the virus
of our human chaos,
bury Him
in our sins,
Bury Him
deeper in stone.

"Even the stones
will cry out."

"Even the stones
will cry out"
Shouting of God's glory
Shouting resurrection power
and the stone rolls aside,
Revealing
Jesus, risen
Jesus, death breaker
The king of love
the beautiful holy lamb.

Now the Rock
of salvation
has restored me to
Total freedom
Total innocence,
Past, present, future
a completed regenerated
beautiful creation,
new born life,
I know God,
my fresh Spirit
flowing living rivers,
transformed forever from
eternity established within,
My soul released
My gifts released.

Christian SPoken Word Poem Easter, Palm Sunday

Holes

An absence of something
a place of nothing
lonely space
the eyes focus point
the hearts waiting beat.

Holes
the bullets trace
deaths moment
an absence of life

Holes
Hands, feet and side
Pierced innocence
Forgiveness flowed
Pure sacrifice

Holes

The Passion

The passion
One week
in history,
Time shortens itself
Focuses
on life
Living hope,
Death
Living hope,
Celebration
Living hope,
Struggles
Living hope,
Just seven days
changing
four seasons in one week,
Ending with
Life Power over death,
Fears of worst death
shattered with Pure light,
Death destroyed by invincible
courageous love.

Easter
One week in history
A thousand years collapsed to a day,
One week holding
eternal futures for you.

Easter the fiesta!
Christ's freedom.

The crowds line the streets to celebrate for Passion Week. Poem

Dawn After

Dawn rises
quietly
on the sculpture
of broken life
cooling on cross silhouettes
to the grey weathered sky.

Stilled watchers
caught
in clotted grief,
Battle hardened soldier
still surprised
by God thoughts,
Hidden hate forces
celebrating
in won astonishment,
Father's Spirit
separation anguish.
Ashes to ashes
grace to death
sin's soul sacrifice

The curtain
has not fallen -
it is torn!
